TBILISI-MTSKHETA-TSINANDALI-SIGHNAGHI-CHARDAKHI-BAGHDATI-KUTAISI-SVANETI
June 27 – July 8, 2024

Join Supra Owners Laura & Jonathan Nelms - and Super-Guide Tamara from Living Roots Travel - for a 12-day journey to the birthplace of wine, khinkali, and khachapuri, where hospitality is practically a religion.

The trip starts in Tbilisi, the city National Geographic called “the world's most Bohemian city.” There we'll visit the underground wine bars, funky markets, fashion boutiques, and top restaurants defining this astonishing capital.

From the capital, we'll head east to Georgia's primary wine region of Kakheti, home to many of Georgia's top labels: Pheasant's Tears, Lagazi Wines, and more. We'll visit and dine with some small and not-so-small natural winemakers, enjoy a traditional supra with Georgian singers, and explore the grounds of the historic Tsinandali Estate.

Heading west, we'll have the chance to see how some of the hottest new winemakers - working in the distinctly different climates and terroirs of Kartli, Imereti, and Samegrelo - are transforming Georgia's wine scene. We'll even stop at the studio of one of Georgia's top qvevri masters to see how Zaliko Bojadze still makes the giant terracotta winemaking vessels entirely by hand, one inch at a time.

Next it's Svaneti! (See above.) The otherworldly beauty of the mountains will stop you in your tracks, but not for long. We'll hike and picnic around Mt. Tetnuldi, visit local artists, have a traditional Svan meal accompanied by local Svan singers, and hike in the territory of the magnificent Chalaati Glacier.

We'll end up back where we started in Tbilisi. Whether it's the legendary Dry Bridge flea market or one of designer-rich Tbilisi's many fashion boutiques, you'll find plenty of spots to get what you need for friends and family back home - not to mention yourself!

All good things must come to an end. But the memories you make on the trip will last forever. One last memory will be our farewell supra to say 'nakhvamdis' to all our new friends!
